Man held for murder of lover

The accused, P Murugan of Teynampet, who is already married, was in a relationship Malar (40) of Ezhil Nagar in Kannagi Nagar. On April 26, Murugan allegedly saw Malar with another man in a compromising position in her house. 

Infuriated, Murugan threw a boulder on Malar’s head and murdered her. While he fled the spot after locking the house outside, neighbours alerted the Kannagi Nagar police after a foul smell started emanating from the house. The police broke open the house and found Malar’s body. 

It was sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for autopsy and a case of suspicious death was registered. Following this, Murugan surrendered before Kannagi Nagar police on Tuesday. He was arrested under murder charges and remanded in judicial custody.
