Illamparuthi, originally hailing from Kerala, was staying at his relative’s house in Meenambakkam AAI quarters while doing his schooling here. But he failed in a few subjects two years ago, and had gone to stay with his parents in Dubai. He had returned to the city in February to reappear in the exam.
However, after finishing it, he had told his parents that he would like to look for a job in the city. But parents rejected the plan and asked him to return. On Sunday evening, Illamparuthi left the house after telling his relatives that he was returning to Dubai by the night flight.
When he failed to reach Dubai till Monday evening, his parents tried to contact him on his mobile phone, which was switched off. Later, his relative Saroja filed a complaint with the airport police station. When they checked the list of people who boarded the flight to Dubai, police found that Illamparuthi’s name was not there.
Police suspect he might have gone to a friend’s house in the city as he was not interested in going back to Dubai. The airport police are browsing the CCTV footages to find out if the youth came to the airport.
