Four drunk men on two-wheeler ram tree, 2 die
Two persons died on the spot after four men riding on a single bike rammed a tree in Mylapore on Sunday night. Police said the men were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The deceased were identified as Vishnu (29), the bike rider who was an electrician with a software firm at SRP Tools, and Venkatesan (28), who worked for a travels company in Mount Road. The injured were identified as Bharathi Raja (26) who works for a finance company in Parry’s Corner as an office assistant and Pavadairayan (22), a car driver.
According to the police, the four men from Nochikuppam near Santhome were drinking near a railway track last night. Around 11.30pm, they got on to a two-wheeler despite being in an inebriate condition and drove on Pappanasam Sivan Salai where they lost control and hit a speed breaker.
“The vehicle skid and ran into a tree, colliding against a wall. Vishnu and Venkatesan died on the spot and the bike was also completely mangled,” said police.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem examination while the injured are undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
The Adyar Traffic Investigation police has registered a case about the accident and further inquiry is on. None of the riders wore helmet, said police.
