Labourer, plucking mangoes, electrocuted
Plucking mangoes turned fatal for a 30-year-old daily wage labourer in Nolambur as he was electrocuted on Sunday. The deceased, Kumar from Ariyalur, was working as a labourer in the city. He shared a room with his friends at Nehru Nagar in Tirumangalam.

As they did not have any work on Sunday, the trio decided pluck mangoes from a tree in the house of a woman, identified as Annapurani, at Mohanram Nagar in Nolambur. While all three climbed the tree, Kumar, who went atop, touched a live wire and was thrown away. He fell on the ground and died on the spot. Annapurani immediately alerted the Nolambur police, who retrieved the body and sent it to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further inquiry is on.
