Chennai to get 10 more free Corpn diagnostic centres
The Greater Chennai Corporation will open 10 new diagnostic centres in the city. It will provide services like X-Ray, ECG, scanning and others at no cost to the residents of the city.

The proposed centres will augment five centres that are already in operation. “Our plan is to have one free diagnostic centre per zone and it will be attached to any Corporation hospital in the particular zone,” an official said.
An announcement in regard to new diagnostic centres is expected during the upcoming assembly session. Meanwhile, Chennai Corporation Commissioner G Prakash, in a statement, said that the civic body is running 36 polyclinics in various locations in the city.
“The polyclinics function from 4.30pm to 8.30pm from Monday to Saturday to provide free treatment to the public. Around 30 to 50 patients are being treated at each polyclinic every day,” he added. General medicine, maternity care, child care, orthopaedic treatment, physiotherapy, dental, eye, ENT and skin related treatment are provided at these clinics. Apart from this, the polyclinics also provide psychiatric treatment, primary, secondary and tertiary treatment.
