Fire breaks out at pvt firm, staff escape unhurt

The eight-year-old company, which employs around 60 persons, manufactures plastic spares for automobile giants.

Fire broke out at one part of the unit around 5 am when there were five employees were on night shift. The workers rushed out and alerted the fire control room. Four fire tenders from Sriperumpudur, Poonamallee and Tambaram rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 9 am. Most of the unit was damaged and spares worth several lakhs were gutted. Kundrathur police have registered a case and investigation revealed that a short circuit could have caused the fire.
