But they fell out after Prithviraj found out that Karthikeyan tipped off the police about him, following which he was caught by Velachery police last year. In the clash that ensued, Prithviraj allegedly burnt Karthikeyan’s bike while the latter sent goons to assault Prithviraj.

Three months ago, Prithviraj had shifted to Bengaluru for work. But Karthikeyan was still furious, and wanted to murder him. He opened a fake Facebook account in the name of a girl and befriended Prithviraj, who fell into the cyber trap believing that he was indeed talking to a girl. He accepted the invite to meet ‘her’ in person.

After reaching Chennai on Monday, Prithviraj went to Bethania Nagar in Ramapuram, expecting to meet the new found girlfriend. He was in for a shock when he saw Karthikeyan reaching the spot with two other men.

When they started attacking him, Prithviraj raised an alarm and was rescued by the public, who also nabbed the trio and handed them over to Valasaravakkam police. Two knives were seized from them. While Karthikeyan was remanded in judicial custody, the other two, both minors, were sent to observation home.
