Four men detained for attacking cop
City police have taken into custody seven offenders including the four men who attacked police personnel on duty, a week ago, under Goondas Act.

The four men who attacked Karthikeyan (37), head constable of Pondy Bazaar police station was identified as M Mohammed Rizwan (35) of Sevenwells, K Mohammed Nowshad Ali (31) of Mannadi, D Sulaiman (33) of Sevenwells and M Afsar Hussain (36) of Royapuram.
They attached Karthikeyan while he was on night patrol at Kodambakkam High Road near Liberty Flyover on Thursday. Around midnight, Karthikeyan spotted four men in a car talking to a transperson, whom he suspected as a sex worker. Later, two others on a bike joined the group. They attacked Karthikeyan under the influence of alcohol as he asked them to disperse. A video of the incident, that leaked two days ago went viral.
Two other accused who were detained under Goondas Act for another crime were identified as Ganesan of Sowcarpet, P Dinesh of Pulianthope and Gowrishankar of Manali.
