Lok Adalat grants Rs 55L to semi-conscious man’s family
The family of a man who has been in a semi-conscious state for the last 10 years after being in an accident was awarded Rs 55 lakh by a Lok Adalat on Saturday.

Gnanasekaran, now 39, was brought in an ambulance to the Madras High Court campus, where the Lok Adalat was held. He had met with an accident in 2009 after his two wheeler collided with a private bus.
In the second settlement, the Lok Adalat awarded Rs 93 lakh to Thennarasu, another victim, whose right leg was severely damaged in an accident.
More than two lakh cases were settled during the exercise held across Tamil Nadu during the day. The Lok Adalat was conducted by the Chennai District Legal Services Authority.
Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority secretary and District Judge Rajasekar, who presided the Adalat, later told reporters that 2,14,529 cases were disposed of in 460 benches in the state on Saturday. Of this, Rs 216 crore was disbursed as compensation for 28,525 cases. Cases related to education loans comprised 6,322 of them.
