2 men die in two accidents near Chengalpattu
Two men were killed and three others suffered injuries in two separate accidents near Chengalpattu on Saturday night.

On National Highway 45, a 55-year-old pedestrian was fatally knocked down by a overspeeding private bus. The police said that the deceased, Shanmugam of Sriperumbudur, had come to Varanavasi village near Chengalpattu to meet his relatives on Saturday night.
When Shanmugam was walking on Chennai-Tiruchy National Highway near Attur village around 7 pm, the private bus hit him and went without stopping, said the police. Shanmugam died on the spot and his body was sent to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
In another incident, a car ran amok, rammed four people, who were waiting for bus on the roadside, and plunged into a pit nearby. The police said that Raja (55) died on the spot and others, identified Ezhumalai (51), Krishnan (65) and Valarmathi (56), were admitted to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital with grievous injuries.
The police said that all four were relatives and hail from Selvi Nagar at Chengalpattu. They were waiting for bus in the locality when a car travelling towards Chennai knocked them and plunged into a pit 200 meters away. The Chengalpattu Taluk police registered cases and a hunt for both the drivers is on.
