MTC launches feeder service from 3 more Metro stations
As part of improving last-mile connectivity, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has introduced small bus feeder services from LIC, AG-DMS and Washermenpet Metro Rail stations from Monday.

A statement from the MTC said that in order to provide connectivity to the Chennai Metro stations that were opened in the last phase, it has launched 11 small bus services on five routes. This is in addition to 30 small buses operated in 13 routes in various Metro stations in the city.
“Presently, the MTC-run small buses are currently being operated on various routes provided at select Metro stations, namely Koyambedu, CMBT, Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar, Alandur Metro stations. In addition to these services, from Monday onwards, MTC small bus feeder service is extended to Washermenpet, LIC and AG-DMS Metro, in which five routes have been identified and 11 small buses have started plying at an interval of 20 minutes from the Metro stations,” the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) added in another statement.
The new bus route S72 would ply from Washermenpet to IOC via Korukupet, while S71 would ply between Washermenpet and Egmore via Waltax Road and MGR Central railway station.
The route S30 would start from LIC Metro station and reach Vivekanandan House via Express Avenue and Royapettah. The feeder service number S36 from DMS Metro station to Nungambakkam through Sterling road. The route S84 would beoperated between Alandur and DLF via Butt Road.
CMRL statement added that it was part of its endeavour to provide measures to ensure last mile connectivity for the Metro passengers. Apart from feeder services by MTC, share auto and share taxi feeder services are also plying at its stations.
