Man threatens to plant bombs in CM’s house, arrested

A 33-year-old man, who allegedly called the police control room and threatened to plant bombs at the residence of the Chief Minister if the police do not trace his missing wife, was arrested on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as G Vinothkumar, a resident of Selaiyur. He was working as a car driver, said the police. Vinothkumar was booked under 294(b), 506(1) of the IPC and 75 of the TNCP Act and remanded in judicial custody.


The police said that accused, who reached home under the influence of alcohol on Sunday night, started a quarrel with his wife. Upset over this, his wife left the house.


Vinothkumar immediately called the police control room and complained that his wife has gone missing. While personnel at the control room said that they would look into the complaint, he called the control room again and threatened that he would plant bombs at the Chief Minister’s residence if his wife was not traced immediately.


The police traced his mobile phone location and alerted the Selaiyur police. They immediately reached his house and arrested Vinothkumar. Meanwhile, Vinothkumar’s wifereturned home on Tuesday morning, said the Selaiyurpolice.
