Burglar attempts suicide at Periamet police station
A burglar, who was caught for stealing mobile phones at Periamet, attempted suicide at the police station by slitting his throat with a broken tea glass in the early hours of Wednesday. The police have ordered an inquiry into the incident.

According to the police, Nagaraj of Choolai and Sounderarajan of Pulianthope were chased and caught by residents when tried to escape after stealing a mobile phone from the house of Ashok at TK Mudhali Street in Choolai on Tuesday evening.
They were then handed over to the Periamet police for further investigation. The police reportedly recovered six stolen mobile phones from their possession and made them wait at the police station.
Around 12.30 am, Nagaraj, who saw a tea glass near him, broke it and slit his throat with the broken glass.
The police personnel who were on night duty rushed him to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. He was reportedly given fourstitches and he is said to be out of danger. After the incident was reported to the senior officers, an inquiry has been initiated.
