The woman, Pandia Mythili from Rajapalayam, had come to her relative’s house in Mylapore when the incident happened, said the police. Around 11.30 am, Mythili went to the Marina beach with her family members. They hired an autorickshaw from Anna Square to go to the lighthouse.

After the auto left dropping them at the Lighthouse, Mythili realised that she forgot her handbag containing valuables and cash in the vehicle. Based on her complaint, Marina police registered a case and combed the CCTV footage on Kamarajar Salai to trace the registration number of the autorickshaw.

It became easier for the police to locate the vehicle as Mythili had also left her mobile phone in the bag. Police said that the vehicle belongs to Baskaran of Pulianthope. Noting that the bag was found in the backside of the autorickshaw, police added that the driver did not intentionally take the bag with him. The valuables were intact in the bag, which was handed over to Mythili after investigation.
