55-year-old woman run over by LPG truck near Villivakkam

The deceased, Mahalakshmi was riding pillion, while her husband Shankar (55), a tailor by profession, rode the bike. As they were proceeding on 200-ft road towards Padi, a speeding LPG lorry which was trying to overtake their two-wheeler near the Retteri signal hit their vehicle. In the impact, Shankar lost balance and both fell on the road. As Mahalakshmi fell on the road, the rear wheels of the tanker truck ran over her killing her on the spot. Shankar escaped with minimal injuries as he fell off the road. On information, Tirumangalam traffic investigation police rushed to the spot and sent her body to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case was registered and the driver who went absconding after causing the accident was nabbed on Friday night. The abandoned truck was seized. Further inquiry is on.
