Conference on standard infusion practices held
Infusion Nurses Society organised their 8th conference on innovations, insights and standard infusion practices. The conference stressed on the importance of adopting safe infusion practices to prevent nurses from potential risks. The conference also showcased some of the latest technological solutions in safe infusion therapy.

The medicos emphasized on the safe infusion therapy as there have been various cases of nurses’ involvement in fault infusion in the State. Safe infusion therapy can bring down the cost for both patients and hospitals thereby reducing waste of resources, prevention of infection and inflammation, and reduce errors, incidences, and sentinel events.
Dr Jothi Clara Micheal, organising chairperson of the conference said that healthcare professionals should standardise infusion therapy practices in the country to ensure high-quality infusion care. “Patient safety is the utmost priority for every healthcare institution and by adherence to Infusion Nurses Society standards, nurses can reduce the risks involved and assure safer care to the community they serve,” she said.
Medical experts emphasised on the need to make healthcare professionals aware of safe practices and adequate training should be imparted to ensure complex situations so that they are handled with ease by following key safety standards in infusion therapy.
The conference saw a participation of 7,000 nurses from various States who contributed on various topics including clinical integration in safe infusion practices, role of technology in optimizing cost, quality and safety in infusion therapy.
