Inebriated man bashed up for hitting pedestrian with car
A man, working at an advocate’s office, was bashed up after he drove a car under the influence of alcohol and hit a pedestrian, before he was handed over to traffic police in Nandanam on Saturday.

He was identified as Boopalan of T Nagar. The police said he was working at an office of a lawyer practising in the High Court. On Saturday evening, he drove a Maruti Dzire to his home from CIT Nagar in Nandanam under the influence of alcohol. He lost control while negotiating a turn from Venkatnarayana Road to Sivagnanam Street.
His car hit a pedestrian, identified as Parameshwaran of Ariyalur district. Parameshwaran fell on the road and sustained injuries. The passers-by rescued Parameshwaran and sent him to a nearby hospital. Then, they pulled Boopalan out of the car and found out that he was drunk.
Angered over this, the passers-by attacked him and also damaged the car. On information, the Pondy Bazaar traffic investigation police rushed to the spot and secured Boopalan. He was booked for drunk driving and further investigation is on. Parameshwaran is out of danger, said the police.
