3 women held for conning elderly

The accused were identified as Maria (45) of Kovilpatti, her daughter Jothi (19) and Panjavarnam. The police recovered 13 sovereigns from them. They were arrested based on a complaint from Ravaroshini (70) of Jeeva Nagar in New Washermenpet. A few days ago, Ravaroshini boarded a share auto from the bus stop near her house to reach Royapuram.

The three women boarded the auto at Lakshmi Amman bus stop and started a conversation with her. They asked her to remove the jewels and keep it in the handbag safely. However, the senior citizen found that the jewels were missing after alighting at her stop. Police said that the trio to stole jewels for many women in a similar manner. All three were remanded in judicial custody.
