Guard foils gang’s bid to rob Rs 20L from cashier of gold firm
A masked trio followed a gold firm’s cashier in a car from Koyambedu and tried to rob Rs 20 lakh from him in T Nagar. The timely intervention by the security guard with a gun prevented the armed robbery.

The victim, Krish, who works as a cashier for Attica Gold Company, was returning to the firm’s T Nagar branch from Koyambedu in the wee hours of Tuesday. Police said that Krish reached CMBT from Bengaluru and was picked up by the company’s security guard Chandrakumar on a two-wheeler as Krish was carrying Rs 20 lakh in cash.
While the duo reached the branch office of the company located at Bharathi Nagar 2nd Street on North Usman Road in T Nagar, three masked men from a red coloured car, which was following them from a distance, got down and tried to snatchthe cash bag from Krish.
Shocked by this, Krish raised an alarm and ran into the T Nagar branch office. Syed Sultan, another security guard at the firm, came out with a double-barrel gun and chased the gang away. While the gang fled from the spot in a car, the other persons who were sleeping inside the firm also woke up to the noise and were shocked to know that there was a robbery attempt from their cashier.
The CCTV footage retrieved from the office showed security guard Syed Sultan rushing out with his gun probably after hearing the noise, while Krish enters the premises with the cash bag.
Based on a complaint, Pondy Bazaar police have registered a case and further inquiry is on. The security guard has reportedly told police that the masked men carried iron rods and spoke in Hindi. Special teams have been formed to nab the suspects, said police.
