The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), in its order, said that about 2.5 lakh students, studying in engineering and polytechnic colleges across the State, have to be provided with Nilavembu Kudineer with the support of health officials regularly.

The order further said that the power lines, wiring, electrical points, and switches in the classrooms, laboratories, restrooms, and other buildings in the institutions have to be properly checked by qualified electricians besides other preventive measures.

After a recent review meeting of the Higher Education Department, the officials were instructed that cleaning of all rooftops and removal of blockages have to be done to avoid water stagnation.

Accordingly, a team of faculty members have to constantly inspect the college campus. Stating that the principals of all colleges have been instructed ensure fogging of the campus, the order said that the institutions have to arrange awareness programmes for the students. It also suggested the institutions to buy fogging machines as they will be useful in the monsoon season.

“Principals should be in touch with local authorities, health department, revenue department, electricity board, the police, and fire and rescue department to maintain their names and contact numbers on the campus,” the order said.
