10-month-old child, newly-wed couple killed in accident

The deceased couple was identified as Kamesh (22) and Swetha (20) of Pattinapakkam. The 10-month-old boy was son of Indumathi (25), who was injured in the accident.

The police said they were relatives and travelling to Mahabalipuram in Kamesh’s car to attend a ceremony on Monday. When they were on ECR near Thiruvidanthai, Kamesh tried to overtake a vehicle. Suddenly, he lost control of the car and it crashed into the median.

In the impact, all of them suffered severe injuries and the police officers admitted them to a private hospital in Kelambakkam. Around 7 pm, Kamesh and Swetha died without responding to treatment, while the child died on Tuesday afternoon. The Mahabalipuram police have registered a case and are investigating.
