Duo snatches HM’s chain at knifepoint

Unidentified men snatched a three-sovereign chain at knifepoint from a government school headmistress near Madurantakam on Tuesday.

The victim, Jayalakshmi (48) of Maduranthagam, is the headmistress of a government elementary school in Thandaraipettai village, On Tuesday evening, Jayalakshmi was walking with another teacher, Tamilselvi (40), towards the bus stop from the school when the incident happened. The police said that two men, one of them wearing a helmet, on a two-wheeler intercepted the teachers and the pillion rider, who had a knife in his hand, snatched the chain from Jayalakshmi. They also tried to snatch the seven-sovereign chain from Tamilselvi but the duo had to flee from the spot since she began to shout for help.


The Madurantakam police have registered a case.
