Man arrested in Minjur for spreading religious hatred

The Minjur police arrested a 38-year-old on Tuesday for spreading religious hatred through social media.

According to the police, the accused, Gokulakrishnan lives in Sengapillai street, Vallur in Minjur, and was a treasurer in Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

Sources in the police said that he delivered speeches spreading religious hatred through WhatsApp and Facebook and allegedly tried to instigate riots between Hindus and Muslims. After the videos went viral on social media, the police received a complaint against Gokulakrishnan and a team led by the sub-inspector Murali arrested and produced him at the Ponneri Court. The accused was later remanded in judicial custody.
