The police said that the accused, Sagayaraj (52), rented Senthil’s apartment located at Baskar Colony Third Street, Saligramam, in 2013. The apartment has 10 rooms and Sagayaraj had promised to pay Rs 2 60 lakh per month to which Senthil agreed.
Thought the actor never visited the place, Sagayaraj had been paying the rent on time till six months ago. When Sagayaraj started defaulting the payment, it spiked Senthil’s doubts and he decided to visit the property on Wednesday. After visiting the apartment, Senthil found that Sagayaraj had leased out the property for several lakhs to at least 10 people claiming that it was his apartments.
Immediately Senthil lodged a complaint at the Virugambakkam police station. The police found that Sagayaraj had been doing it for nearly three years. After preliminary inquiries, the police booked Sagayaraj under charges including criminal breach of trust and cheating. He had been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
