Police booked one of the food delivery boys and his father under bailable section based on a complaint by R Balaji (42), a real estate businessman, and let them off with a warning.
Balaji, a resident of Seventh Avenue in Ashok Nagar, ordered food through Swiggy around 8 pm on Sunday. The order was to be delivered by Rajesh Kanna (27) of Saligramam. But as he was unwell, his father Dhanasekar (52) rode the bike with Rajesh travelling pillion.
However, the duo could not locate the address and made repeated calls to Balaji, which irked the latter. When they finally reached the location, Balaji, who is said to have been under the influence of alcohol, got into an argument with them and allegedly hurled abuses at them.
The father-son duo objected to it, which led to an argument. Balaji allegedly slapped Dhanasekar, which infuriated Rajesh, who hit Bajaji. He was then attacked by the latter’s employees.
Rajesh then made some calls, after which a group of men gathered at the spot and thrashed Balaji. According to the complaint, the delivery boys escaped with his 10 sovereign chain.
Police secured and inquired the boys, which revealed that Rajesh has been working for Swiggy for over a month. The others were college students working with Swiggy. They also filed a counter complaint against Balaji.
Police booked Rajesh and Dhanasekar under bailable section and let off with a warning. Further investigation is on whether Balaji’s gold chain was snatched as he claimed.
