The police booked them for overloading, but allowed the autorickshaw drivers to drop the students in their respective schools before bringing back the autorickshaws to pay their fine amount. A team of 104 traffic police inspectors and sub-inspectors carried out the inspection at places near schools. Autorickshaws, carrying students to the schools, should have meshed guards and seating for students and full doors.
Parents should also make sure that they are not sending their kids in such overcrowded vehicles. They should ensure that their kids are safe, said the police. The traffic police also have insisted all autorickshaw drivers to adhere strictly the rules and warned them that enforcement officers would seize the vehicle and recommend for the cancellation of the permit issued to the autorickshaw if they fail to follow the rules.
