School teacher jumps into the Kosasthalaiyar, dies of injuries

The deceased, Udayakumar, was married to Mythili and the couple has a six-year-old daughter. They reportedly separated five years ago and Mythili refused to live with him again despite his repeated requests. Udayakumar was upset over this, said the police.

Udayakumar, who got drunk on Tuesday evening, went to the bridge across the Kosasthalaiyar and jumped from there. He suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot. On information, the Manali New Town police retrieved his body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is on.

A woman and her daughter who went to bath their cattle drowned in a lake in Thiruninravur on Tuesday evening.

The deceased were identified as S Suguna (49) and her daughter Kumari (25) of Veppampattu. As they didn’t return home, Suguna’s son Kamala Kannan searched for them throughout the night. On Wednesday morning, their bodies were found floating in the lake. The police said that Suguna’s husband Senji Raman died 19 years ago and the family was selling milkin the locality.

Suguna and Kumari took their cattle for grazing on Tuesday as usual. On the way back home, they decided to bath the cattle. The police suspect that the duo might have got stuck in the slush in a deeper part of the lake and drowned. On information, the Thiruninravur police retrieved their bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is on.
