The bike belongs to R Prasanth of Anna Nagar, who was critically injured in an accident on 200 Feet Road near Rajamangalam on October 30. The Tirumangalam traffic investigation police registered a case and parked the two-wheeler at the Villivakkam station which is in the same premise as their office.
On Saturday, when the traffic police wanted to take it to the Regional Transport Office, they realised that the vehicle was missing. After searching for the vehicle in and around and inquiring the fellow police personnel, the Tirumangalam traffic police realised that the bike has been stolen and lodged a complaint at the Villivakkam station.
When the CCTV footage from the station premise was checked, the police officer found out that a man stole the bike earlier this month.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on to find out whether it was the accident victim’s relative who went away with the vehicle.
