Bangkok-bound plane towed back due to tech snag

Airport sources said when the flight came to the run way for the takeoff, the pilot noticed a technical snag.

The pilot immediately stopped the aircraft on the runway and it was later towed back to the bay.

Since the snag could not be rectified, the flight was cancelled and all the passengers were accommodated in various hotels. The aircraft would leave for Bangkok tomorrow morning.

Since the alert pilot noticed the snag in time, a major mishap was averted and the 277 passengers, including the crew had a providential escape, the sources said.

Indigo flight makes emergency landing in Chennai

An Indigo aircraft from Coimbatore carrying 168 passengers made an emergency landing here following detection of a smoke alarm on Wednesday, airport officials said.

The airline said the flight had a "momentary smoke caution" and it was "spurious." The flight made a safe landing and all the passengers and crew members onboard were safe, airport officials said. Earlier, pilot of the Coimbatore-Chennai service contacted the control room after detecting the smoke alarm from the cargo area and sought priority landing, they added.

Meanwhile, Indigo said the flight "had a momentary smoke caution for the aft cargo compartment."

"Post arrival in Chennai, the smoke caution was noted to be spurious. Aircraft is currently in Chennai to rectify the cause of the spurious caution," it added.
