P Sukumaran, Secretary, Vegetable, Flowers and Fruits Merchants Association said, “Last week, onions were sold for Rs 65- 70 per kg, as there was supply from Nashik. Now, the supply has reduced to 40 truckloads of onions against the usual supply of 100 truckloads daily. Now, onions are being sold for Rs 90 per kg and small onions for Rs 110 per kg.”
The supply of drumsticks, too, has come down due to heavy rain in the last one month. “Usually, drumsticks would be sold for Rs 80-100 per kg in November-December. But this year, it is being sold for Rs 250 - 270 per kg. From 10 truckloads a day, getting even one truckload has become difficult now. The sale of onions and drumsticks has come down drastically in the market,” he said.
