Man cheated of Rs.5L with fake FCI appointment letter

A 25-year-old man, who approached the Food Corporation of India (FCI) with a fake appointment order, was detained by the Thousand Lights police on Friday.

Investigations revealed that he was cheated by an agent to the tune of Rs 5 lakh. Ajinas Sivadasan, a native of Kerala, reached FCI on Haddows Road at Nungambakkam on Friday and told the officials that he has got an appointment order for the post of stenographer.

The staff checked the appointment letter and found it to be fake. On information, the Thousand Light police secured Ajinas.

During the inquiry, he told the police that an agent issued him the offer letter after taking Rs 5 lakh from him.

The Thousand Lights police sent him back to Kerala. They seized his passport, too, and asked him to lodge a complaint with the Kerala police against the agent. Further investigation is on.
