Six persons arrested for kidnapping man over biz rivalry

A six-member gang, who kidnapped a man over business rivalry in Ambattur, were arrested during a vehicle check at Thiruninravur while they were returning after dropping the victim, on Thursday night.

The accused, identified as A Senthil Kumar (36) of Tirumullaivoyal, P Pandiyan (32) of Ayapakkam, P Sahadevean (31) and A Manikandan (29) of Kolapakkam, S Senthilkumar (38) of Pallavan Road, and R Muniyappan (26) of Nerkundram remanded in judicial custody on Sunday. The main accused A Senthil Kumar and victim Rajasekar are relatives and partners in automobile spare parts business, running a shop in Ambattur Industrial Estate. Some time ago, Senthil separated from his relative but suffered a loss, following which he allegedly demanded money from Rajasekar.


When Rajasekar refused to pay up, Senthil kidnapped him with the help of the gang on Wednesday and demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom to release him. However, after they managed to collect Rs 1 lakh from Rajasekar, the gang dropped him near Thiruninravur on Thursday night. Rajasekhar contacted his brother Saravanan and told him what had happened.


A complaint was lodged at Ambattur Industrial Estate police station on Friday. However, the gang members were already secured by the Ambattur police the previous night during a vehicle check at Thiruninravur. After investigations revealed that they were behind the kidnap, the gang was handed over to Ambattur Industrial Estate police who remanded them in judicial custody on Sunday.
