4-year-old drowns in water tank at home in Pallikaranai

The deceased was identified as BR Krithik from Malleswarar Nagar in Pallikaranai, who was studying kindergarten at a private school in Pallikaranai.

The child’s father Bharathi Raj is working as a delivery man with a gas agency, his mother is a homemaker. On Monday, Krithik was playing in front of the house after returning from school. While his mother was in the kitchen, he fell into a five-foot water tank that was used to store water.

The tank had no lid, police said. The child’s uncle who lives adjacent to his house, saw the incident and rushed to rescue Krithik. The child was taken to a private hospital in Pallikaranai.

On Monday night, Krithik succumbed without responding for treatments. On information, the Pallikaranai police who visited the spot retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem examination at the Chromepet government hospital. Police have registered a case and inquiry is on.
