Students attempted the language paper on December 11 and English examination was held the next day. With the Mathematics paper scheduled to be held on Saturday, a “suspicious” three-page long question paper surface on the social media. Students, teachers and officials concerned are equally bewildered.
“The question paper contained a total of 47 questions. Though it was suspicious, it looked like a real question paper,” K Jayashankar, a Class 10 student studying in a private school in Pammal said. He said that the government should take action against those who leak or spread question papers as it will affect many students.
Soon after the paper started doing rounds on social media, officials of the Directorate of Examinations were flooded with calls seeking the genuineness of the issue.
Dismissing the rumours about question paper leak, a senior official from the directorate told DT Next that authorities were keenly monitoring the issue to ascertain whether there was any malpractice.
“There have been reports about the circulation of the question paper since Friday morning. We have already ordered the authorities concerned to conduct a detailed enquiry and submit a report with immediate effect,” he added.
Claiming that there was no chance of the question paper leaking as it was kept safe, the official said, “However, we do not want to take any chances as it affects the students.”
“Nowadays, miscreants spreading rumours during exam time to create panic among students has become common,” he said, adding, “Students and parents should not believe such rumours without hearing the official version.”
The official added that all district education officers were alerted to check for irregularities in their respective region. “We have asked them to keep extra vigil by inspecting suspicious schools and ensure the smooth conduct of examinations,” he concluded.
