Police identified the missing man as D Patiraj Gauro, a native of Nepal. He reached Chennai by flight with his son Sikhendra Chowdhary (26) and daughter Kripakumari (17). The family was scheduled to travel to Vellore from Chennai. According to the police, the three reached Patna, Bihar, by road and then took a flight from there to Chennai. Patiraj reportedly disappeared while they were looking for tea stall within the airport. Patiraj’s disappearance shocked his children, who frantically searched for their father. His mobile phone was also switched off.
Following this, his son lodged a complaint at the Chennai airport saying that Patiraj disappeared after landing in city. Police said that they are looking for the missing man. It is not clear if he was abducted by anybody thinking that he was carrying cash or he got lost in the airport. The family was scheduled to travel to a private engineering college in Vellore where Kripakumari was trying for a seat, police said. Police are trying to find out if the family was in touch with admission agent.
