While A Irudhayaraj was a BTech graduate, A Arokya Akash was a BE graduate, the police said, adding that they were residents of Kasi Garden at Kasimedu.
On Monday afternoon, Arokya sent a message to his friend that he had decided to end his life. The friend rushed to the house and alerted his elder brother Irudhayaraj on the first floor of the house. They both went to Akash’s room on the second floor and found him hanging from the ceiling.
They removed him from the noose and rushed to Government Stanley Hospital where he was declared brought dead. While his body was sent to the mortuary, Irudhayaraj told Akash’s friend that he was going home to inform his parents about the death.
Meanwhile, their mother, who had gone to a relative’s house, returned home and went to the second floor in search of her sons. To her shock, Irudhayaraj had committed suicide by hanging from the same noose. She came to know about Arokya’s death only later.
On information, the Kasimedu police registered a case and further investigation is on. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Arokya, who was employed in an IT firm in Ambattur, lost his job after he became addicted to drugs. Dejected over this, he committed suicide, while Irudhayaraj, who did not have a proper job, is suspected to have ended his life unable to overcome the shock of his brother’s death.
