An official release from the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said that the Metro train will be operated with a 28-minute headway from 3 am to 6 am. Besides, all parking lots at all Metro stations will be opened from 3 am to 12 pm on Sunday. Participants will be allowed to park their vehicles free of cost.
The marathon is being conducted for a social cause and restoration of Kazhapathur lake on Old Mahabalipuram Road. As part of promoting several sustainable and health-related activities, CMRL has become the official partner for the Chennai Runners to organise the eighth Sketchers Performance Chennai Marathon on Sunday. The marathon has four categories – 10 km, 21 km, 32 km and 42 km. The starting point for all the races will be near the YMCA grounds, which is close to Nandanam Metro station. While the end for the 10 km race will be near the Central Polytechnic College in Taramani, other categories will have endpoints on East Coast Road.
Races would begin one after the other from 4 am to 6 am on Sunday. Meanwhile, CMRL, in association with the Unwind Centre School of Music, will host a concert at the Central Metro station at 3 pm on Sunday.
The live performance will feature an array of musicians and singers performing their own singles, including playback singer Sid Sriram.
