Police tighten vigil at Kanchi temples

Following the disclosure that some of the arrested terror elements had used SIM cards procured from a service provider’s shop in Kancheepuram, the police have picked up a few employees.

Late in December, five persons including Rajesh, Pachaiyappan, Shahul Hamid for allegedly selling SIM cards without required documents based on a complaint by the dealer of a mobile phone service provider. The employees allegedly sold more than 100 SIM cards to those with forged identity details. Suspecting that some of the terror suspects had stayed in Kancheepuram in recent past, the police have beefed up vigil in the area. Since Saturday, security measures have been tightened at temples including Kamakshi Amman temple and Ekamabaranathar temple, where metal detectors were installed  at the entrance. Armed police personnel, and BDS teams and special police squads have also been deployed.
