5 new districts to get Collectorate buildings
The Public Works Department (PWD) Buildings wing is set to build Collectorate complexes encompassing government departments at five new districts in the State soon and are waiting for the completion of tender process.

The State government, recently, announced the creation of five new districts; Kallakurichi, Thenkasi, Chengalpattu, Tirupathur and Ranipet. They have also appointed Collectors for the respective districts.
“We received the Government Order few weeks ago on the new Collectorate offices to be constructed in all the five newly formed districts. Based on this, the revenue department has embarked on selecting the sites for the construction of these Collectorate campuses, which ought to be at least 25 to 30 acres. After the confirmation from all the five districts Collectors’, we will give an estimation to the government. On approval the construction work will commence within three months,” said KP Sathyamurthy, Joint Chief Engineer, PWD – Buildings wing.
The government has already appointed the Collectors in the newly created district on a temporary basis for a year with effect from the date of functioning of the new districts. As of now, the Collectors are placed at the existing government building.
“It has been planned to bring all the government offices including taluk, sub – registrar, PWD and education in a single campus. Hence, if a person enters the building, they can visit all the government offices,” said Sathyamurthy.
