2 TNPSC scam accused bail petitions dismissed
The Principal District and Sessions Court, Chennai on Tuesday dismissed two bail petitions filed by Tamil Nadu Public Service (TNPSC) scam accused who were arrested for clearing Group II-A exam in 2017 after paying Rs 21 lakh in total to the middlemen.

The petition was filed by K Arun Balaji (30), a native of Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai district and J Deepak (31), a resident of Medavakkam in Chennai. The duo contended that they would submit sureties and accept the conditions by the court and requested to grant them bail.
Vehemently opposing the bail petitions, city Public Prosecutor Gowri Ashokan said, “Bail petitions should be dismissed since the case is at the initial stage. They may tamper the evidence or abscond from appearing before the police officials for inquiry.”
Accepting the submission made by the city Public Prosecutor, Judge R Selvakumar dismissed the bail petitions. According to the city Public Prosecutor Gowri Ashokan, Arun Balaji who was working as an assistant to Sale Inspector at Commercial Tax Department in Arcot Ranipet was arrested on February 4. He had allegedly paid Rs 13 lakh to the main accused Jayakumar through the middlemen Boopathi and Narayanan alias Shakthi.
J Deepak (31) was working as an assistant in finance department at Secretariat was arrested on February 4. The prosecution contended that Deepak had allegedly paid Rs 8 lakh to the middleman Ashok Kumar to clear the exam.
The case was registered under section 465, 468, 47 r/w 120(B) of Indian Penal Code and Organized Crime Unit of CB-CID is investigating the case.
