If it is a private hospital, they have to clean the floor and doorknobs once in two hours. With all offices having to disinfect at least twice a day, several disinfecting firms are in the fray.

“We have instructed all the private companies and essential service like hospitals to sanitise the building more frequently than ever. Even before the pandemic hit our country, we have been taking measures by providing various instructions about the sanitisation. When the virus outbreak was declared in China, our officials have been taking precautions by issuing advisories to companies and also to the residents,” said a senior health official in GCC.

The official added that the Corporation has been sanitising the buildings in containment zones twice a day. “Private firms should use the chemical solution according to the size of the building. All private firms are already under our quality check so there is no need of separate check now,” said the health official. “Sodium hydrochloride solution or Lysol can be used for disinfection,” the official added.

Firms, whom DT Next spoke to, said that they have been getting several customers. “As of now, residential buildings are being sanitised by the Corporation. Only small-time companies would employ our services since big private companies have janitors on standby,” said Santhosh Kumar, who runs a disinfectant service.
