Sources said that so far 188 confirmed cases have been reported in the Kancheepuram district. Of them, 104 have been recovered and the rest of them are still under treatment. A few people, who have been asked to quarantine themselves in their houses for 21 days, have started coming out and move freely on the roads to buy essential needs. Fearing that the infection may spread in the neighbourhood, some local residents informed the district administration about this. On Thursday, the district administration started to lock the houses, which are quarantined. Both the police and health department officials will be on duty near the houses throughout the day. All essential needs will be supplied to those families by the municipal staff.
