Chennai based private hospital losses license to treat coronavirus due to overcharging of COVID 19 patients

The Department of health and family welfare of Tamil Nadu cancelled a private hospital's license to treat COVID 19 in Kilpauk, Chennai on Saturday. The action was taken following a report that the hospital was charging fees higher than the standardized amount to the patients.
It was reported that a patient was charged Rs 12.20 lakh for 19 days of treatment in the hospital.
The department also warned the private hospitals that severe action will be taken if their charge surpassed the amount set by the government.
