TN CM directs private hospitals to declare their corona treatment charges
Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has directed the private hospitals to declare their treatment charges for Corona, for public access.

There has been a rise in complaints regarding the charges levied by the private hospitals for Covid treatment. It was said that the private players are utilising the pandemic situation the most and are charging close to lakhs.
Recently, Tamil Nadu government had temporarily revoked the Covid-19 treatment licence of a Kilpauk based hospital- 'Bewell', for charging a COVID patient Rs. 12.20 lakhs, for 19 days of treatment.
The TamilNadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy hence has ordered private hospitals to declare the treatment charges, open to the public.
He also added that stringent action will be taken on any complaints regarding.
It is to be noted that, according to the government order passed few weeks ago, Grade 1 and 2 hospitals can charge a maximum of Rs. 7,500 in general ward per day while grade 3 and 4 hospitals can charge Rs. 5000.
Erstwhile, Tamil Nadu had included treatment of COVID-19 patients in private hospitals under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme.
On the wake such complaints, the Health Minister reiterated that all the Government hospitals across the State are equipped with specially set-up COVID 19 care facilities and the treatment for Covid is available on par with the private players, at free of cost.
