Complaint against S Ve Shekar for remarks on national flag

The complaint was lodged by one C Rajarathinam of Nungambakkam. The complaint said that S Ve Shekar, reacting to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s condemnation of putting a saffron cloth on MGR statue in Tiruvannamalai, said as if Palaniswami spoke against the national flag referring to the saffron colour in the tri-colour, even though he did not make any such mention. The complainant added that the saffron colour in the national flag refers to strength and courage of the country, but Shekar misinterpreted the colour, claiming it to represent Hindus. Alleging that such comments can communal tension ahead of the Independence Day, the complainant said Shekar should be booked.
