Home quarantined to get kits under Amma COVID-19 scheme for Rs 2.5K

Under the scheme, a person who pays Rs 2,500 would get a kit containing a pulse oxymeter, digital thermometer, 14 face masks, sanitiser, soap, packets of kabasura kudineer and adhimaduram to boost their immunity, and multi vitamin and zinc tablets. The scheme would be run through the Omandurar Government Multi-super speciality hospital.

Also, under the community intervention programme, the CM inaugurated awareness and infrastructure works at a cost of Rs 33 crores. As part of this, 30 vehicles with LED displays would frequent city roads to create awareness on coronavirus and dengue infections.

A statement from the government added that awareness pamphlets on coronavirus, dengue and rainwater harvesting would be distributed among 30 lakh households in Chennai. The Chief Minister also launched an automated voice call through which he would congratulate about one lakh people who have recovered from the coronavirus infection, said the release.

Palaniswami also inaugurated projects completed by the Municipal Administration, Agriculture and Health department. He laid foundation stones for developmental works to be taken up in Coimbatore Medical College and government hospital at an estimate of Rs 80 crores, inaugurated the kidney special treatment centre at the Pudukkottai government hospital constructed at a cost of Rs 24.40 crore, and several medical buildings constructed at a cost of Rs 4.68 crore via video conferencing. Foundation stones were laid also for administrative buildings, library, students’ hostel.

In another function held at the Secretariat during the day, the Chief Minister handed over appointment orders to 505 surveyors and 20 junior assistants in Revenue Department who were recruited by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

The Chief Minister also reviewed ongoing agriculture schemes and inaugurated value addition centre for corn constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crores in Cuddalore. Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar, Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar and Local Administration Minister SP Velumani took part in the inaugural events held at the Secretariat. Chief secretary K Shanmugam was also present.
