Man killed by daughter’s lover near Chengalpattu
A 45-year-old man was murdered by his daughter’s lover and friends for opposing their relationship, on Thursday night near Chengalpattu.

The deceased, Thanigaimani of Irunkundrapalli village near Chengalpattu, was working as a bus driver of a private school. According to the police, Thanigaimani’s eldest daughter was in a relationship with Silambarasan (30) of the same locality who works in a meat stall. Thanigaimani had warned both of them not to continue the relationship, which led to quarrels between him and the youth.
On Thursday evening, a quarrel broke out between them. Later in the night, Silambarasan and friends went to Thanigaimani’s house and attacked him using knives. The latter tried to escape but was chased and attacked. The onlookers rushed him to Chengalpattu government hospital but he died without responding to treatment.
Hundreds of villagers gathered in front of the SP office asking the police to immediately arrest the murderers. They dispersed after Assistant SP Kandan assured action and managed to pacify them. On Friday afternoon, a special team arrested Silambarasan, and his friends Vijayakumar (45) and Akbar Ali (29).
The Chengalpattu Taluk police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
