City has no virus clusters, cases scattered across 254 streets
While the city has been reporting less than 500 new COVID-19 positive cases, the number of streets with new cases remains around 300 suggesting that there are no clusters and the virus is more widespread but contained.

On Saturday, 486 new cases were reported from 254 streets in the city. “The data suggests that several streets have been reporting one or two new cases only. Due to the continuous containment measures, the positivity rate has also come down to around 5 per cent,” a Chennai Corporation official said. “On October 22, 398 streets had reported new cases,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chennai continues to maintain a negative growth rate in fresh cases. As on Sunday morning, the city had recorded -1.3 per cent growth rate in new cases. Of the 15 zones, 12 zones had registered negative growth rate with Anna Nagar registering -4.3 per cent growth rate, which is lowest in the city.
Alandur, Perungudi and Valasaravakkam have a positive growth rate, with Valasaravakkam registering the highest growth rate at 4.9 per cent. On Saturday, the city recorded a positivity rate of 4.82. Of the 10,063 samples tested by the Corporation, only 486 tested positive.
Of the total cases reported in the city, a total of 2,03,824 persons have recovered at a rate of around 96 per cent until Sunday while 4,374 persons are under treatment. A total of 3,816 persons have succumbed to the virus in the city so far.
