Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Gomadam Sadagopachariyar, one of the organisers of the event, said, Sri Ramanujacharya, who had a compassionate heart, strong and sharp intellect, has been guiding generations for centuries on the vedic path.
It is a fitting tribute to celebrate his 1000th birth year, from this Friday. As many as 74 surviving members of Simhasanathipathis dynasty will grace the function which is named after Sri Vaishnava Sangoshti at Srirangam from October 14 (Friday) to October 16 (Sunday).
Lauding the services by Sri Ramanujacharya to the society, Sadagopachariyar said, as many as 700 Jeers and 12,000 Sri Vaishnava scholars followed in the footsteps and preached the ideals of the great Vaishnavite saint. He said, Ramanujacharya had revived the Vaishnava spirit. “The sun of the Vedic heritage was brilliant at his time. Now all that is in the danger of being a mere memory and time has come for us to come together and join hands in this common mission of our Acharya to re-establish the glory of our heritage”, said Sadagopachariyar.
Since Srirangam is the place most associated with the Acharya and there are many families of gurus and disciples and scholars live in the temple town, the spot is selected for honouring the Swami.
