Lauding efforts of long-distance riders
Madras Randonneurs, founded in 2011, has been promoting randonneuring as a sport in the city and have been growing in terms of membership over the years.

For the uninitiated randonneuring (also known as Audax in the UK, Australia and Brazil) is a long-distance cycling sport. Riders from the age of 18 to 65 are a part of this group. Recently, an award function was organised to honour randonneurs by Turyaa hotel in association with Madras Randonneurs. About 250 riders were present at the event. The award ceremony was followed by the launch of the jersey of Madras Randonneurs with prominent guests like M Ravi IG of Police and Baskaran, former Indian hockey coach. Among the popular names in the randonneuring circuit from the city are Neville J Bilimoria, Padma Priya, Shanmuganathan and Sundararajan.
